5226 posts · Joined 2003. #4 · Apr 3, 2009. The Dana 50 TTB center section is a direct bolt-in swap onto the D44 TTB axle beam. Use the passenger side D50 inner axle shaft and side of the slip yoke and keep the D44 axle shaft from the male side on out . Nothing else needs to be changed.

Ford Bronco II's came with a reverse cut Dana 28 TTB (Twin Traction Beam) 4WD front axle from 1984-1989. Bronco II's built after 11/1989 came with the larger Dana 35 TTB. I have never had a Bronco or TTB before so just looking for some guidance; I have seen pre-runner/desert-race Bronco's with 39's on them quite a few time though. . . It seems in the non-desert off-road world 37" seems to be the maximum recommended tire for a non-TTB Dana 44; I don't recall ever seeing a limit placed on the Ford 9".

Time and wheeling will tell. You would be pushing the limits of the stock axels and brakes therefore it requires frequent inspection to keep you safe. Do the D50 inner shaft/joint, stronger and that is the most frequent break on D44 TTB with large tires. Replace that then the outters are the weak point.

Doesnt have to be TTB specific. TTB came on all 4x4 broncos, f150, and F250 from 80-96/7. It also came on 80-84(or 85) f350 as well. 80-82 TTB used a different method of axle stub shaft retention. D44 on F150 and bronco; D44HD on light duty F250; D50 on the 80-84/5 F350 and HD F250. All three third members are interchangeable in the TTB ...

TTB F-250's will either come with a TTB D44HD or a TTB D50. Both are leaf sprung 8 lug axles. As indicated earlier, you can refer to the lockout size. The D44HD uses the same lockout as the D44 and the D50 uses the same lockout as the D60. I also look at the axle shaft u-joints.

unfortunaltely from the factory there is no consistancy with the camber bushings. this is the first problem and the most major problem with the ttb. if your truck starts out with a 0 degree or positive degree bushing, chances are you will have no problem doing an alignment. however if you start with a 1.5 degree bushing in the negative position ...
