For collets I've got a mix of Royal/Hardinge R-8s that came with the mill and work well. But I did buy a new set of Lyndex brand collets that are very nice. Drill chucks are easy. Get a Jacobs super chuck or Albrecht with the integral R-8 shanks. I've used both in school. At home the Jacobs are used in the lathes or drill press.

The 7/8 collet is a weak and bad design, larger than Bridgeport meant the R8 to hold. The 7/16, 9/16, 11/16 and 13/16 will probably never see use, though there likely are solid carbide end mills in those shank sizes. I was new to mill tooling when I bought my R8 spindle mill. I included a 7/16 in the assortment of Buck brand collets I bought.

The B-3 looks like a small R-8, not a Morse...in profile. It is 3.093 OAL, with a .649 diameter that is 2.312 long then the 9 deg 8min taper starts to produce a head diameter of .800. draw bar is 7/16-20. the 1970's Catalog I have says : #2 Morse used on M and T heads. B-3 Used on T heads.

Remove the key and swap out the drawbar if you can. That will at least eliminate the easiest things first. Many R8 collets use a swaged insert threaded tube that can get pulled out of the collet body if too much torque is put on the collet. This can swell the shank straight area you mention if the sleave even moves.
